What is the conflict between science and religion?
Science is a subject of dealing with the study of nature, and it focuses on its processes and developments in anything. Basically, the analysis of evidence is a core since scientists assume that everything happens due to natural cause rather than going through divine intervention. By contrast, religion is dealing with matters of faith. Basis on human spirits and beliefs, revelations of truth come out from deities and Gods. Faith groups believe a fact that all existences are created by one or more deities who play major roles in managing whole universe. Sometimes, it bypassing the laws of nature to create miracles. Thus, there are various kinds of rituals and practices which are shown via different ways by different kinds of faith groups, such as worship. Most of them always neither make sense nor be supported by reasonable evidences, which are the matters of the conflict between science and religion.
However, according to the film, “The limits of our skull are the limits of our understanding,” the last sentence is a good direction for me to think what it really means. I guess it means that nobody has ever or will be able to know and understand everything in the world because they are not always making sense. Even the top-notch scientists in the world have something that they don’t know fully understand. I once heard a saying that those who say they know everything in class knows just enough to not get themselves flunked by the teacher. In most cases, those who are an expert in something don’t brag or showoff. They are probably the ones that keep the lowest profile. We are actually quite lucky that we have many useful tools in learning which people centuries ago don’t have, and we are trying to prove that everything comes from its cause.
