Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
Evolutionary biology is the reason why humans are changing through the generations both mentally and physically. Depending on our environment, that is what we adapt to. Having new traits and new genes is how we evolve into something different each time. Charles Darwin mentioned, “In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment.” I think this generation now is a very good example of how we have changed. Back in the 90’s, we were not so dependent on technology because we did not have the things we have now. Now, having all these Iphone’s and touch screen devices, everything is done through the internet. My little sister is so dependent on my Ipad now instead of going outside to play with friends. When I was her age, that is all I did. I did not have any technology. I like that we are having all these new things to help us but at the same time, it is also not helping.

Hello natalie, Isn't it quite intriguing that environment has such a big impact on the way we adapt? I really liked how you brought in Charles Darwin as he is one of most important scientists out there. Not only did you do that but you also added some personal touches to the question itself which was pretty interesting, i feel like adding a personal touch allows you to understand the question more.

Hi Natalie
I like your use of the example of technology to illustrate the concept of evolutionary theory. Evolutionary theory truly explains why certain traits or species are preserved and others disappear. If a certain feature offers us a better advantage to adapt to the new environment, provided that there are enough varieties for us to encounter such feature, we tend to keep it and extend it to our future generations. The advent and popularity of technology could be at partially explained by the benefits and advantages it offers to humans to process information more efficiently so that they could gain and succeed.
