Eliminative materialism is a materialist position in the philosophy mind. Its primary claim is that people’s common sense understanding of the mind is false and that certain classes of mental states that most people believe in do not exist. In the videos, they stated that some scientists feel that the most promising way to tackle the subject of consciousness is by a process of eliminative materialism. If the theory was not solved with mathematics then they used physics, chemistry, biology and then sociology. An example of eliminative materialism is the subject of consciousness and how you use other theories besides mathematics if it cannot be solved. Another example is in the second video when they talk about evolution. Electromagnetic currents were talked about instead of talking about Thor the God and eliminated more Gods that people believed in back then. Lastly, we have allowed eliminative materialism to change our thinking about almost everything except ourselves. Also to understand our own motivation using desire, motivation, love, anger, and free will.
