In European cultural history, he has been is seen as a saint of die for the pursuit of truth. Socrates was accused of two charges: corrupting the youth and impiety. In the case, one party is the great philosopher of the pursuit of truth, the other is the stick to democracy and freedom. Athens is seen as a source of democratic politics. There was no way of telling in advance who's wrong and right, and who's good and bad, emotional choice becomes a painful torment, thus the tragedy color more. Socrates was sentenced guilty later, his students thought to help him escape from prison. And persuade him that his accusation is unjust. However, Socrates chose to drink poison, faced death, because he thought that escape will only further damage the Athenian law authority, but also because fear after he fled to Athens will again without a good mentor can education people. 2. Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion?
The root of the conflict between science and religion are fundamentally different. The core of "rational science is doubt", is a fact that treatment can be tested on the basis of permanent open knowledge systems; the core of religion is "irrational belief", is a worship of some eternal truths closed-based belief system. According to some of the traditional view that religion is a kind of false view upside down view of the world, and science is the truth about the essence and regularity of objective things, so religion and science are fundamentally opposed. In this case, between religion and science are independent of each other, peaceful coexistence situation would have been unthinkable.
