1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution is very important in understanding how human beings behave because it shows us how humans have progressed over several million years to come to the point where they are at now. By the process of natural selection and other evolutionary developments, we have survived till this day and have adapted to the current world conditions. Life expectancy has increased because humans have learned how to live longer. We have improved from our past generations and continue to move upwards. It is embedded in our minds and in our bodies to behave in a way which will increase our life expectancy and allow for growth. “This is why evolution is such a powerful idea. It explains so much so simply.” (The DNA of Consciousness 15) The theory of evolution allows us to understand how humans have survived all these years, despite all the difficulties, when so many other species became extinct. The theory of evolution helps us realize how human beings have been shaped till this point so that they can do more than they were able to before. We are unconsciously doing things that will help us in our own progress.
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
I feel like there are so many questions that evolutionary theory cannot answer. Right off the top of my head, I would ask that if this universe was the product of a “big bang”, then where did that small seed or particles come from which created the “big bang”? Where did all of this begin from? If this was not a god’s work, then how did all of this come to be? Where did matter come from? How did the idea of time originate? Which came first, matter or time? A very basic, but a legitimate question would be that who came first, a man or a woman? Where did they come from? If human beings did originate from chimpanzees, then where did the chimpanzees come from? If I were to keep going on like this, there would be a never ending list of questions because one question directly leads to another question.

Kolton Martin-Question 2
Some questions I don't think the evolutionary theory can answer are; How did life originate? Evolution can not explain how a bunch of chemicals came together to form the first living cell. Another unanswered question I have is, Where did the materials come from that formed the universe, and if there was no space, where did they exist? This question can not be answered using the evolutionary theory because, something, can not come from nothing. One more question I have is, where did life originally come from? If space did not exist then how was life formed, and where did it come from. Going back to what i said before, something cannot come from nothing. If nothing existed, then there would be no gasses to form the first cell, and no materials to form the universe we live in.
My Response
My questions were very similar to yours Kolton and I think our thought process was the same as well. One question that really bothers me and I want the answer to as well from evolutionary theorists is that “where did the materials come from that formed the universe?” I mean they didn’t appear for a reason because that is what religion teaches us, so then why did they appear? Was it something that the universe decided to do or a natural force? If it was a natural force, then where did that force come from? It’s like a never ending list of questions!
