Essay 1:
Socrates was sentenced to death because on two charges that were brought against Socrates, one, he did not believe in the gods recognized buy the state, the other that he had corrupted the Athenian youth by his teachings. Socrates does not have alternative to the usual approaches accepted by debaters on similar occasions. He was filled with pride and was uninfluenced by the fear of death, he then went to trial and defended himself against the charges that were falsely accused on him He neither denies nor confesses the first accusation, but shows that in several instances he conformed to the religious customs of his country. Eventually his enemies were able to convince the jury and judge that his influence was nothing but corruption to Athens by corrupting the young of ignoring their system in which he was later to die with poison. Socrates then drinks the poison without hesitation and pretends that nothing has happened but then happens to notice his limbs going stiff and says his last words which were “ Crito, we owe a cock to Esculapius; pay it, therefore, and do not neglect it.”
Essay 2: Science vs. Religion
Many believed that science and religion did not conflict but had many overlapping topics. However, the book The Great Mystery: Matter Vs Spirit it stated that religious people tend to believe in the supernatural. So how do they ultimately conflict? In science, it is based on observations and repetitions of experiments over and over again of nature. Such as assuming the purpose of the universe can be exposed through the scientific method, which includes the follow steps of purpose, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, and conclusion. Some scientists do not believe in the supernatural and others believe, but without the interference of nature. Where as, religion is based on faith, in which many consider their own faith is the only completely true one. Many believed that God created the individuals and revealed their faith through religion since most faith groups believe in god. Difference in religion and science is that scientists believes in observation and any disagreements would have to require hard evidence of reject where as, religions trace their principles back to different exposures from god.

What is matter?
Matter in which was derived from mater is a substrate from physical existence. Democritus who argued that things are made up of indivisible particles, which cannot be cut further, first created the term atom. By the 20th century, ax Planck then realized that atoms contained other bits such as nucleus and an electron in which would contain smaller units such as photons, quarks, and so on. Even after getting to the very core of matter, there is yet another later discovered. The latest theoretical estimates concerning the basis of matter consists around the four fundamental forces in nature: one, gravity, two electromagnetism, three strong nuclear force, and four, weak nuclear force. Apparently nobody can know what a single bit of matter is eventually doing, since “bit” was rather vague. Albert Einstein stated, “if quantum theory is correct, it signifies the end of physics as a science.” Hence his E=MC2 which measurably more radical meaning that we are using invalid and misrepresentative definition of matter and in doing so we are losing sight of the wonderfulness of what physics and neuroscience is saying.

Essay 2: Extra Credit: The life of Pythagoras
Pythagoras was the son of Apollo whom was a legend due to a certain Samian poet. “Pythais, the fairest of the Samian race from the embraces of the God Apollo Bore Pythagons, the friend of Jove.” Pythagoras had his greatest lesson which was to learn the value of saving time, which in result helped him abstain entirely from wine and animal food, avoiding greediness, confining himself to nutriments of easy preparation and digestion. This led to his short sleep with his pure soul and attentive, and the general health of his body was consistent. Pythagoras unfolded a complete science of the celestial orbs, founding it on arithmetical and geometrical demonstrations. He was known for his Pythagorean theorem "This theorem is a mathematical theorem that states that the right angled triangle is the area of the square on the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the other two sides - that is A squared+B squared+C squared."
