1. Why is Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
Answer: In the book the Unknowing Sage, it states "Faqir's startling insights show that most religious visions are, in fact, product's of one's own mind. When I use the term "mind" here it should be equated with "imagination." Naturally, all visions are of the mind in the strict sense of the term, but those manifestations which cannot be correlated by others either in this world or the higher worlds are, for the most part, merely vivid extensions of one's imagination"(Unknowing Sage). In order to understand the visions of religion and miracles we turn to Faqir Chand, because he understood why they actually happen to some people and why they don't happen to other people. Faqir's experiences confirm the belief that miracles and religious visions are possible. He had visions during war that led his side to victory and safety. He had religious visions to keep his side safe through a near death experience with God.
2. What is meant by the phrase, "philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy."
Answer: "Philosophy done well is science", because philosophy that is done good can be implemented into science and be used to figure out people's behaviors, thoughts, and values. Philosophy is the study of various different subjects and so if it is done good it can help the entire core of disciplines improve drastically in understanding other sciences. Philosophy done poorly remains philosophy means that the information being put forth is not factual or complete. It means that it is just a theory and can't really be used as a credible way of understanding peoples thoughts, behaviors, and values.
