The article “Future of Information” discusses how cell phones, specifically iPhones, will be able to hold an innumerable amount of data in the future, and judging by how phones are used and how much data is available on cell phones today, that seems very plausible. At the present time Apple is selling an iPhone that is capable of storing 128gbs of memory; Samsung has one that can max out at 140 GBs. Though this seems like a lot, when you take into consideration what people use their phones for today, you can kind of see why somebody may need over 100gbs of memory. In addition to the basic phone functions (i.e., texting and calling), many people use their phones as mini computers, TVs, video cameras, game consoles, etc. It could be argued that people use their phones for everything. It could also be argued that cell phone dependence would likely increase in the future, so a phones capable of storing Godabytes may be needed.
