Question 1: Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
In the film The Wolfram Conclusion, it is said that "if the principle of computational equivalence asserts that almost any system who's behavior is not obviously simple, will tend to be exactly equivelant in its computational sophistication. So this means that in the end, there is no difference between the level of computational equivalence that is achieved by humans and by all sorts of other systems in nature and elsewhere." Modern technology is already incredibly advanced. We can access a vast amount of information with a tap or swipe of our finger. I think the idea that something like a machine with the ability of having a simulated conscious is a scary thought. For example, films like Terminator or Irobot could become a reality. Whether it will be a problem is another theory. I believe that with the right mind and being careful in what humans create, we can always form safety's to protect ourselves. Aside from evil robots taking over the world, I do believe that artificial intelligence could pose a different problem. I could possible cause humans to become lazy and lose the ability of critical thinking and problem solving. I can imagine artificial intelligence to become so advanced that it could see future issues with the world before it even happens. There is a upside and downside to this.
Question 2: How has technology impacted your life?
Technology is a huge part of my life as it is for a lot of other people my age. Everywhere I go, I see technology. Without technology, our life wouldn't be as convenient as it is now. Through technology, we have developed things such as smart phones, tablets, and of course, GPS. Technological advances as also given more than just entertainment. It has benefitted our health with advances in medicine and treatments with technology. I can not imagine living without my phone or even this computer that I am answering this question on. I use the GPS on my smart phone on a daily basis. I admit I've come to rely on it to make my time management and life a lot more efficient. It is also a fact that there are a lot of downsides to technology. For example, everywhere I go, I see everyone on their phones. I believe a huge part of society has lost the ability to be social. To be able to talk to a stranger and meet new people. Although the internet has made the world a much smaller place, I believe social skills are very important and these phones have taken away our chance to practice meeting and talking to new people.
