For some, there is a conflict between science and religion. For one reason, many religious people assume that materialism explanation contradicts directly to the spiritual world that religious people are seeking. They assume that matter is something mixed and cannot explain the dynamic levels of consciousness. First of all, however, matter is not fixed but rather “a scaffolding project of many layers.” The recent advances in physical, especially quantum mechanics, make it possible for humans to break the previous barriers of matter and find solutions to many unknown questions earlier. With such potential, it is highly possible that science can come to explain the spiritual level of consciousness one day. Nevertheless, some people fear that the introduction of science to explain religion seems devastating and might interfere with the faith and belief of the religious followers. Well, giving consciousness a scientific explanation does not mean that it will make it less spiritual and less appreciable. People sometimes too easily resort to spiritual explanation for everything while ignoring the fact that science might make their belief more real.
On the other hand, science people never really understand religions because they never experience one themselves. It is possible that there are certain multiple levels of consciousness that could not be explained by science, which is beyond our physical limitations. If this is the case, then we should forget about scientific explanation and appreciate the spiritual one. But before we can finally reach any conclusion, I think that the best approach is for both sides to be tolerate and experience each side more because science and religion are not against each other in nature but complimentary.
