Looking at the "Future of Information and Memory" article made my wonder where on this list of memory capacity the internet is currently in. After some research, I came across an article that stated that by 2013, the internet will hold 4 zettabytes of information. Therefore, our smartphones literally do "hold everything in the world". In 2010 the internet held just under 1 zettabyte. At this rate, now in 2015, we should be at 6 zettabytes or so I hypothesize. Being aware of the vast amounts of information at my fingertips makes me realize that I know nothing. There is no amount of reading, or studying that will ever get my close to having all of the knowledge in the world. I also came across this article: blogs.cisco.com/news/the-dawn-of-the-zettabyte-era-infographicIt seems like we will be starting to talk about these zettabytes more often this year and the coming years.
