In the video Ray Kurzweil: The Coming Singularity, “it is stated that in 25 years technology will be a billion times more powerful then it is today”. It is expected that by 2029 the human brain will be reverse engineered. Computers bring more powerful then the human brain is a terrifying concept for me. A computer with the capacity to produce thoughts and emotions in the same way as the human brain is a scary thought.
We have become a people who have entertained ourselves into a stupor. We have to ask ourselves “are we psychologically ready to be mentally raped?” “That which used to be ‘hidden’ is now externalized in bytes of information and wirelessly accessible without having to do anything”. All of this freedom of information, global positioning systems, and artificial intelligence will change the way we live our lives and can possibly cause problems in the future.
