Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
Evolution answers a lot of questions about the purpose and transformations of plants, trees, insects, animals, humans and even diseases. Although some people, like Alfred Russel Wallace, have attempted to make the argument that evolution can't answer how humans developed consciousness, in the DNA of Consciousness, Dr. Diem-Lane sets the story straight that evolution does explain it (Darwin-Wallace Debate, 2013; Diem-Lane, 2014). But are there questions that evolutionary theory can not answer. I think the answer is yes. Which questions? Why do we need to survive? We keep competing, evolving, naturally selecting through million and millions of years. We continue to reproduce, grow and multiply but for what purpose? Not just humans but animals, and trees and everything that is alive. Why do we need to continue to survive? I think the only thing that can answer this is if there is actually some sort of eternal afterlife that is full of magical wonders and peace. We continue to live and compete for survival so we can continue to have chances on earth to live the righteous life in order to make it to this magical place that could be some sort of heaven. Furthermore, it is undeniable that life itself is enjoyable. Does there need to be a purpose for continued survival other than just having a chance at this wonderful life? For those that have terrible lives maybe yes, there needs to be more. But what else could there be out there to explain our existence? Perhaps we are here and need to continue to survive because at one point we will evolve consciously so much that we unlock a hidden meaning to life that we cannot see today. I hope so.
