1. Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution is important in understanding humans because it shows why humans have certain behaviors and also shows why that behavior is uniquely human. Charles Darwin who we associate with evolution and natural selection is known for his scientific discovery, which unified the theory of life sciences by explaining the diversity of life. In the film “The genius of Charles Darwin” the commentator explains everything we know about life can be explained through evolution. So for example why do people have varying skin colors with some darker then others. If you use the theory of evolution you can see people adapting to their surroundings through different skin colors. Although this is not a behavior we can also look at a common behavior for example hugging or kissing, how did these behaviors come about? Where did this behavior first come into existence? How did evolve?
2. Which questions do you think evolutionary theory cannot answer?
Evolutionary theory can not answers questions such as where did life begin? Evolution can explain why we are what we are today and it even theorizes that we are decedents of apes but does it every really explain where it all started. Also can evolution explain what came first a man or a woman? I am not saying that the catholic religion or any religion has it right for that matter. Maybe nobody has it right and maybe one day the answer will be discovered.
