Understanding physics and the general rules of the universe is important to understanding philosophy because there is a connection to the two. If you look at some of the past philosophers and see what they were questioning in their philosophical discussions it wasn’t just religion or mathematics but physics and the universe. The philosophers’ seeked to understand the world around them and the relationships between objects and how the universe behaved. If one did not have some knowledge of the universe and such things as atoms and electrons then there would be no starting point to the discussion. One must also understand what philosophy truly is, many people when they think philosophy we think religion not necessarily science however philosophy as different branches just like many other disciplines and natural philosophy or natural science incorporates many of the scientific thoughts we use today when we think of “science”.
