Week 4 Question 1: Why is the theory of evolution so important in understanding how human beings behave?
The theory of evolution is important in understanding how human beings behave because learning how our ancestors’ have evolved, we learn how they made us who we are today. In the DNA of Consciousness book, it states human beings’ adaptation is caused by our “unique genome [which] has some fundamental traits that have led to such success” (The DNA Consciousness, Page 8) and our variation “in population leads to varying reproductive chances” (The DNA Consciousness, Page 44). Humans’ are heavily influenced by their surroundings, so it is necessary to have certain traits in order for them to survive; so through natural selection, our ancestor chose certain traits and behavior then reproduced in order to them to adapt. Human behaviors are evolved from these successful traits which had helped us adapt to our surroundings; therefore, learning the theory of evolution, we learn about how our ancestor’s basic yet complex psychology helped us evolve to who we are today.

I agree with you fully you used very good examples from the text. Human had to evolved in order to survive and get to we are today. Without evolution the human race would be gone. The role of our ancestors did play a big role in changing us in order to adapt.
